2026年6月6日から10月4日まで、ヴィンセント・ファン・ゴッホ・ハウスは「DUET – オランダ＋日本」展を開催する。本展は日本との交流の成果を紹介するものであり、ズンデルトの美術館がオランダと日本のアーティストの作品を「デュエット」として組み合わせる。ファン・ゴッホからのインスピレーションがこのプロセスの指針となっている。
歌川広重の木版画は、フィンセント・ファン・ゴッホのみならず、画家のロッテ・ヴィエリンガとシゲル・ハセガワにも影響を与えた。両者はズンデルトのゲストスタジオで新作を制作。ハセガワのキャンバス作品は、同期のロベルト・ザンドフリートの大作絵画と並べて展示される。エミリー・ベイツとカツミ・オモリは、フィンセントが《花咲くアーモンドの木》を描くきっかけとなったモチーフ、桜を撮影した。最後のデュエットは、フルール・ファン・ドーデワールドと澤田育久によるもので、東京の写真が壁面彫刻に取り込まれている。
エミー・ベルフスマは、先祖ティティア・ベルフスマの物語を紙上の連作の出発点とした。ティティアは、日本人が出島で目にした最初の西洋人女性であり、絵画や様々な工芸品に繰り返し描かれてきた。
特別ゲストとして、日本人アーティストの栗林隆がレジデンシーを通じてファン・ゴッホ・ハウスの庭にサイト・スペシフィックな作品を制作する。学生とボランティアの協力のもと制作される本作は、内側に小さな鏡が貼り巡らされた空洞の木である。
付帯プログラムとして、「Find Van Gogh」がキュレーションする展覧会では、ファン・ゴッホからインスピレーションを受けた日本の子どもたちによる絵画が紹介される。
7月10日から8月16日にかけては、展覧会がブレダのスタッズギャラリーにも拡張される。ここでは、ファン・ゴッホ・ハウスの主導により日本で活動した若いオランダ人アーティストと、ズンデルトでレジデンシーを行った日本人アーティストの作品が展示される。
7月10日・11日には、ブレダでジャパン・フェスティバルも開催され、展覧会・レジデンシー・テシマの新スタジオへの注目を促す。同時期に、フィルムハウス・ボタニクではいくつかの日本映画が上映される。

From June 6 to October 4, 2026, the Vincent van Gogh House presents the exhibition DUET – Netherlands + Japan. This exhibition showcases the results of exchanges with Japan. The museum in Zundert combines works by Dutch and Japanese artists, like a 'duet'. Inspiration from Van Gogh serves as a guiding principle in this process.
Woodcuts by Utagawa Hiroshige inspired not only Vincent van Gogh but also the painters Lotte Wieringa and Shigeru Hasegawa. They created new work in the guest studio in Zundert. Hasegawa's canvases are presented alongside a large painting by his fellow student Robert Zandvliet. Emily Bates and Katsumi Omori photographed the cherry blossom (sakura), a motif that prompted Vincent to paint his famous Almond Blossom. The final duet is formed by Fleur van Dodewaard and Ikuhisa Sawada, with photographs of Tokyo incorporated into wall sculptures.
Emmy Bergsma took the story of her ancestor Titia Bergsma as the starting point for a series of works on paper. Titia was the first Western woman the Japanese saw on the island of Deshima. She was frequently depicted in paintings and on various objects.
Special guest is the Japanese artist Takashi Kuribayashi, who will create a site-specific work in the garden of the Van Gogh House during a residency. He will be assisted by students and volunteers. His design is a hollow tree lined on the inside with small mirrors.
As part of the accompanying program, an exhibition curated by Find Van Gogh features paintings created by Japanese children inspired by Van Gogh.
From July 10 to August 16, the exhibition expands to Breda, at the StadsGalerij location. Here, work will be shown by young Dutch artists who have worked in Japan at the initiative of the Van Gogh House, and by Japanese artists who have been in residence in Zundert.
On July 10 and 11, a Japan Festival is also being organized in Breda with the aim of drawing attention to the exhibitions, residencies, and a new studio at Teshima. Simultaneously, Filmhuis Botanique is screening a number of Japanese films.
